In the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, there is a private university called Dr. CV Raman University (CVRU). The university, which bears Sir CV Raman's name, was founded in 2006 and is well-known for being an Indian physicist and Nobel laureate. A division of CVRU called the Institute of Open and Distance Education provides a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programmes online.

The institute provides degrees in a number of disciplines, including the arts, sciences, business, management, education, and law.
