The School of Distance Education is one of the major departments of the University of Calicut. It was established in the year 1981 and has emerged as major distance education providers. The institution is affiliated to University Grants Commission of India. It caters to the needs of thousands of students from various parts of the world. 

It offers a total number of 26 programs, out of which 14 consists of Undergraduate courses and 12 Postgraduate courses. The institution is putting all efforts to reach every student in the country. Admission to the courses are based upon the marks secured in the qualifying examination.

School of Distance Education of University of Calicut offers a total of 26 programs, 14 of which are UG courses while 12 are PG courses. Under UG courses, BBA, BA courses, B.Com and B.Sc are offered and under PG courses, courses like MA, M.Com and M.Sc are offered. Calicut University Distance Education Admissions 2021 Highlights 

● For BA courses, the students who have passed Higher Senior Secondary are eligible to apply for this course. 

● For B. Sc courses, the students are required to pass 10+2 with a major subject as their core subject. 

● For B.Com courses, Candidates who have passed HSE with at least one commerce subject or those who have passed HSE without commerce subjects but with minimum of 45% marks, are eligible for this course. 

● For BBA, students who have passed HSE with not less than 50% marks are eligible to apply. 

● For MA and M. Sc courses, the eligibility is degree in related subject. ● For M.Com, any student who has passed BBA, B.com, BBM or BBS from any university recognised by UGC or AICTE with not less than 45% of marks are eligible for this course. 

● For Distance MBA, the basic eligibility is 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 with a minimum of 50% marks in under graduation and admission is done on the basis of CUMAT. 

How to Apply? 

To apply for any UG course or PG course Calicut University Distance Education, candidates need to apply online on their website. Then submit the printout of the filled application form at the college with enclosing required documents. The steps are: 

1. Login on the website of School of Distance Education- http://www.sdeuoc.ac.in/ 2. Go to online registration. 

3. Click Sign Up and enter the details of your – Aadhaar Card, E-Mail, Mobile Number. 4. After successful registration, Sign In using Aadhaar card number and email-id.

5. Select the course and fill the required details. 

6. Upload your photo in JPEG format and select Submit. 

7. Then, you will be directed to the payment window. Pay the required amount. (The fees must be paid online only). 

8. After successful payment, take a printout of the application form. 

9. Send the application form with required documents to the Director, School of Distance Education, University of Calicut, Calicut University, P.O., Malappuram-673635. 

Documents Required to be submitted with UG Application 

1. Original Challan receipt for the required fees. 

2. Original Transfer Certificate of last institute studied, 

3. Original and self-attested copies of Qualifying Certificate and Mark lists. 4. Self-attested copy of SSLC/Equivalent for proof of Age and Date of Birth 5. Copy of Aadhaar Card. 

6. Community Certificate, if eligible for relaxation on basis of cast. 

7. Those who do not avail the facility of spot admission should enclose a self-addressed envelope (without stamp) of size 30cm x 25 cm. 

8. Those who have completed Plus Two through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) should submit an Equivalency Certificate issued from the University of Calicut. 9. Visually challenged candidates should submit a Medical Certificate 

Documents Required to be submitted with PG Application 

1. Original Challan receipt for the required fees. 

2. Original Transfer Certificate of last institute studied, 

3. Original and self-attested copies of Qualifying Certificate and Mark lists (degrees) 4. Self-attested copy of SSLC/Equivalent for proof of Age and Date of Birth. 5. Community Certificate, if eligible for relaxation on basis of cast. 

6. Those who do not avail the facility of spot admission should enclose a self-addressed envelope (without stamp) of size 30cm x 25 cm. 

7. Those who have completed Degree from the Universities outside Kerala should submit an equivalency certificate obtained from the University of Calicut. 

8. Visually challenged candidates should submit a Medical Certificate. 

Spot Admission 

The Calicut University Distance Education Centre also provides candidates with an option of Spot Admission. For this, candidates can submit their applications along with all the required documents directly in SDE. They should remit ₹60/- as spot admission fees. The original certificates of these candidates will be returned on the same day after verification.
