GATE 2024 Every science and engineering aspirant has the dream of entering the best institute which is the IISc and IIT in India. The candidates must have heard of the GATE exam, which is broadly the most popular and competitive exam in India.

What is GATE 2024? 

The seven Indian Institutes of Science organize the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education, National Coordinating Board-GATE, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The 8 institutes are as follows:

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has organized the GATE 2024. The top universities and institutes also accept the GATE exam score to allow admission to their postgraduate programs without any MoE scholarships. Multiple public sector institutions (PSUs) have used GATE exam scores for admission.

GATE 2024 is one of the toughest exams that has cut-throat competition in India. The GATE exam has also gained recognition and acceptance by several institutions outside of India, including the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

GATE 2024 has recently introduced two major changes:

  • IISc Bangalore has introduced a new paper for GATE 2024 for the subjects of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA).
  • All interested candidates can look for the new and fresh edition of the syllabus available on the GATE official website.
  • The application fees for GATE 2024 have been updated and increased for all categories.

Female/SC/ST/PwD applicants have to pay Rs. 900/- while all other general category applicants have to pay Rs. 1800/- fee.

The GATE exam is conducted together by multiple IITs like, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee and Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore). GATE Exam Eligibility Criteria

  • A list of parameters like educational qualification, nationality, etc. are mentioned in the GATE eligibility criteria.
  • The eligibility criteria of GATE 2024 is that the candidate must be a citizen of India, Nepal, or a foreigner holding a valid Indian passport.
  • The interested applicants should also hold a bachelor's/graduation degree in any Engineering/Technology field or a master's degree in a scientific field from any accredited institute.
  • There is no age limit to appear in the GATE exam.

GATE 2024 Registration

The GATE exam dates are already out. All eligible students can complete their GATE 2024 registration by registering through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) site. Third-year graduates (few months left for the graduation to be completed) and other candidates who have already completed their graduation program are also entitled to the GATE registration process.

GATE 2024 Syllabus

The computer-based GATE 2024 exam is conducted online and the language of the exam is English. The GATE 2024 Syllabus is important because it helps students understand the topics and concepts of the GATE exam. The GATE 2024 syllabus is crucial for the exam qualification for the students. The section of the General Aptitude in the exam will hold 15% weightage, while the other 85% of marks will be given to the core subjects in the exam.

Questions carry 1 mark or 2 marks

Negative Marking

For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be a negative marking.

For a 1-mark MCQ, a 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

For a 2-mark MCQ, a 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions.

There is no partial marking in MSQ.

GATE Exam Two Paper Combination

  • Interested candidates can apply for one or two papers for the GATE 2024 exam.
  • The candidates can select the second paper from the "combination of two papers" list that has been already categorized by the GATE organizers.
  • Candidates who have selected two paper combinations for the GATE 2024 should choose the paper as their first choice while applying for the exam.
  • The candidate has to choose the second paper from the combinations set by the committee and displayed in the table below.
  • The applicants must ensure that the GATE 2024 Exam Date for both exams does not have the same exam date.
  • Combinations other than those mentioned in the list in the table won’t be permitted.
  • In special circumstances, some combinations can be removed from the list mentioned below by the exam organizing committee.
  • In that case, the fee paid by the candidates for the second paper choice will be refunded to them.
  • Also, the test center for the second test may be different from the test center for the first test (but in the same city) due to structural constraints and requirements.

Before appearing for the GATE Exam the first and an important step is the GATE preparation. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is one of the toughest exams conducted in India and to crack the GATE 2024 exam, candidates must develop a step-by-step preparation strategy and then steadily plan to work towards it. GATE question paper PFDs for a total of 29 subjects including CS, ME, EC, and EE have been released. IIT Kanpur also released on its official website the GATE question paper for the previous year 2023. The students don't need to log in to the official website to download the exam question papers. Many online websites have pre-released some mock question papers or sample papers for practice purposes along with the GATE answer key. GATE Admit Card

IISc Bangalore has published the GATE Admit Card 2024. Candidates who have registered for the exam can download the GATE Admit Card 2024. The GATE Admit Card 2024 contains some basic information like the exam date and time, the address of the examination center, the issuing document, the candidate’s name, photograph, and signature.

Candidates can also find the GATE Admit Card 2024 download link from the Admit Card section or can visit the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website. The candidate can also visit the admit card download website by visiting the admit card section. The admit card is valid if the applicant has a clear photo and signature. Admit card photograph and valid photo ID must match the candidate's appearance on the date of examination too.

GATE 2024 Exam Day Guideline

GATE 2024 Result

GATE results are usually released one month after the exam. GATE 2024 Results will be announced on 16 March 2024. The total marks scored by the candidates will be shown in the result, GATE 2024 score, All India Rank (AIR), and cut-off marks for multiple sections and the paper. Scores are valid for 3 years from the date of the GATE 2024 result announcement and the scorecard will be accessed only by qualified applicants.

The official website of IISc Bangalore will release the results. On 23rd March 2024 GATE Score Card 2024 will be released. Candidates appearing for the exam will enter the portal to check their results.

2024 GATE Answer Key of CE, AU, EE subjects, Answer Sheet PDF, Result is scheduled to be out on 21 February 2024 by IISc Bangalore. Before releasing the answer key, the GATE response sheet will be released on 16th February 2024.

GATE 2024 Counseling

The last and final step for admission to some of the prestigious engineering colleges in India is the counseling process.

  • A common platform for registered candidates known as the Common Offer Acceptance Portal or COAP is seeking MTech admissions in IITs.
  • GATE 2024 counseling is conducted by COAP for admission to MTech courses offered by IITs and CCMT which is conducted by CCMT for admission in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and CFTIs offering M.Tech. programs.
